Castelo de Abrantes

Abrantes is evidenced by its historical and heritage values (Castle and Historic Center) and its unique relationship with the Tagus river, in particular through the panoramic setting views. The Municipality of Abrantes has focused on urban, social and economic rehabilitation of Abrantes Historic Center, and among the aspects to be explored, are the qualification of the relationship with the context and the appreciation of the potentiality of the Castle as a key element of dynamics to create in the Historic Center. Located on the hill with privileged views over the Tagus River and all surroundings, we must seek to leverage these features in a tourist perspective but also from everyday enjoyment of the resident and touristic population. It is intended that the castle should be Abrantes focus of attraction and set as a starting or arrival point of a whole route system to develop in the Historic Center.
