Development of 46 acres of the former municipal cemetery of Neapolis

The competition’s objective is the regeneration of the former cemetery of Nikaia, inactive for over a decade, which has a hyper-topical significance for the wider area and the neighboring municipalities due to the expanse and the location of the site as well as the suggested new functions.
The competition aims to:
- connect the site with the surrounding area and the city in general, in accordance to the specific characteristics of Nikaia.
- regenerate, reuse and environmentally upgrade the unoccupied space of the cemetery
- connect the site with the newly constructed Papariga square and highlight the whole as an attraction point
- aesthetically upgrade the landscape and the buildings that lie within the confines of the site
- the reuse of the existing structures with new functions
- reinforce the network of connections between the existing and new focus points within the site with multifunctional spaces of rest, activities, events and promenades.
