Ideas On Edge

Parramatta is maturing as an innovative and vibrant CBD. This competition is seeking visionary ideas to lead Parramatta forward in becoming Sydney’s ‘Ideas City’. Parramatta City Council is looking to increase innovation in Sydney’s geographical centre. By participating in this competion you willl be part of generating Parrramatta’s future vision. The competition sites are prime locations, sitting on the edge of Parramatta River, with views to Parramatta Park, Old Kings School (proposed Arts and Cultural precinct), and the historic Lennox Bridge. The sites are adjacent to Parramatta’s famous Eat Street and close proximity to multiple transport connections. Central to Parramatta’s vision is activating the river edges to create a precinct where cafes, markets, events and other cultural activities flourish, while also encouraging dining, boutique shopping and leisure activities along the waterfront.It is expected that the ideas generated by the competition will illustrate the potential of the competition area and influence the long term strategic plan of Parramatta and this new precinct.

By entering this compeition your design will contribute to the future redevelopment of this key area.This competition will allow Council to explore the revitalisation opportunities for the river edges and will influence the redevelopment of Council owned land.Submission from the ‘Ideas on Edge’ competition will generate visionary concepts which will lead Parramatta’s vision forward.At the conclusion of the the Ideas Competition, Expressions of Interest will be invited for the redevelopment of the site. A proposed multifunctional facility may draw upon multiple ideas submitted in the competition.
