| II.1) | DESCRIPTION | |
| II.1.1) | Title attributed to the design contest/project by the contracting authority/entity: ARoS Aarhus Art Museum - The Sky Space. | |
| II.1.2) | Short description: In an interaction between architecture and art, a new experience-filled Sky Space is to be established on top of the ARoS Aarhus Art Museum, which opened in April 2004. The Sky Space is intended as a challenging contribution to our understanding of the integration of art and architecture aiming to make the physical framework richer in experiences and more enticing for our sensory system. The intention of the Design Contest is to obtain proposals for a new urban roof space on top of ARoS′s large, square building by making the maximum use of the potential of the roof surface for establishing a recreative Sky Space that is artistically and architecturally unique. The objective is to create a visual arts experience and attraction that is formulated architecturally. The intention is to implement a project in the borderland between architecture and art; a project, which based on ARoS′s physical structure and architectural concept, works with the existing roof surface of the Museum, thereby enabling a holistic experience of the architectural and artistic concept of the Museum. Open and closed facilities should be available all year round, allowing visitors to enjoy the view and the art and to participate in various events, functions, etc., where food and drink will be served. | |
