Short description of the contract or purchase(s): The University of Liverpool are seeking to procure a new building(s) to be occupied by the Faculty of Medicine. The new building will provide modern research and office facilities that meet all current national and international standards and maintain the University′s position as a world leader in medical research. The project will involve new build accommodation providing flexible laboratories and research facilities, Faculty Office accommodation and possible accommodation for a Pathology Services unit. The Project will include the provision of bio-containment units suitable for ACDP category 3. Relevant experience of successfully delivered projects with these categories of bio-containment is essential and a demonstration of this experience will be required at selection stage. A site assessment and feasibility study (RIBA Stage A/B) is currently underway and the University wish to procure the services of individual consultants to progress the development from feasibility onwards. The procurement route for construction is still to be determined and this may influence the extent and nature of services required from the consultant team. The project budget is circa 50 000 000 GBP excluding VAT, with work on site programmed to commence on site by August 2010. |

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The procurement of the design team will comprise the following process: Evaluation of submitted Pre Qualification Questionnaires to identify a preferred shortlist of 6; Issue tender documents; Evaluate tenders on the cost and quality basis detailed in the tender documents; Conduct tender interviews as may be required; Select and appoint design team. To be short-listed applicants must be able to demonstrate, a proven track record in the successful delivery of similar projects including medical research facility and bio-containment facilities. Applicants should demonstrate a track record of delivering similar projects to defined timescales and construction budgets; The provision of appropriate team expertise and resources to deliver the project; Agreement to the appointment being under the University′s standard deed of appointment.
