    Assignment
    HAV Eiendom is herby inviting to a restricted design contest for the design of a new main library for Deichman in Bjørvika, Oslo. The library shall include an area of approx. 27 000 m².
    The remaining area inside the development area is approx. 40 000 m² and shall be used in connection with supplementary urban development purposes.
    Special considerations must be given to city structural and design requirements which will occur for the sites in the transition zone between city and fjord, and the design of the actual architectural initiatives which shall solve the local interaction between the Opera users and the opera.
    An urban plan for the area which integrates the library’s organisation and requirements according to the programme with the neighbouring areas shall be recommended.
    The institution’s area shall be given a great conceptual architectural design in connection with the institution’s internal organisation principles. The object is to create a unique nearness between library, city, fjord and the surrounding settlement. The design contest will allow international participants, but the solution shall be in a Scandinavian language or in English.

      Up to 10 architects will be prequalified for participation in the design contest. Moreover, HAV Eiendom AS will invite up to 10 architect teams directly.
      This means that up to 20 architect teams will be invited to participate in the contest.

      The Awarding Authority will work out a separate qualification document which will be available at the Awarding Authority’s home page (www.ohv.oslo.no/haveiendom) from 15.8.2008. In addition to the presentation of the project, the Awarding Authority will require that the supplier’s application is more precisely presented.
