The WAN Architectural Effectiveness Award is a major international competition that celebrates and promotes the best in architectural effectiveness, attracting entries from all over the world and providing a global platform to showcase your designs.

WHAT’S INCLUDED?

Buildings that have had a positive impact on society, whether their impact is social, technological, environmental or economic, or have resulted in improved productivity.

ELIGIBILITY

The competition is open to all building types – we recommend that a building should have been completed for at least 18 months in order to be able to show its impact.

JUDGING CRITERIA

The jury panel will judge entries on a number of factors including originality, innovation, form and special quality, sustainability and context, but the following two areas will carry the most weighting:

1. How your design has made a positive impact on society. You must be able to demonstrate how your building has directly and/or indirectly benefited its users, the client, the surrounding community and beyond, against one or more of the following criteria: Social, Technological, Environmental, Economic and Productivity. Post-occupancy evaluation survey results and statistics will be strongly advantageous.

2. The way you present your project is of great importance. Judges will be looking for your ability to communicate the ‘story’ of your building, from the initial concept through to its completion, to support the evidence you provide.
