Aim of the competition will be the redevelopment of the coastal territory of the Municipality of Latina, covering an overall surface area of approximately 2,500 hectares, falling entirely within the confines of the Municipality of Latina, constituting its coastline. The intervention area, approximately one third of which is made up of the restricted territory of “Parco Nazionale del Circeo”, consists of a territorial system, overlooking the sea, the most critical element of which, is to the north (the sandy shore bordering the Mastropietro canal and situated between Capoportiere and Foceverde) due to spontaneous urban development, the majority of which is unlawful, which constitutes the most sensitive problem that the proposal for ideas is called on to resolve.

Even with respect to the currently valid variations to the town planning measures, the overall objective of the project intervention is to bring about the environmental restoration of the dune area, the urban reorganisation of the entire coastal area, and the recovery and upgrade of the territory’s most interesting landscape, along with integrated planning of sustainable interventions from a managerial point of view. The aim of the intervention is to relaunch this part of the municipal territory from an economic, structural, cultural and tourism point of view, ensuring that the landscape, history and anthropology associated with this area, which at present are not adequately and fully valued, and its proximity to the 3 urban environment of the city of Latina and the surrounding coastal area, are valued as they should be.
