    Expression of Interest for Consultancy Services – Technical Assistance for the Preparation of a Vegetation Study/implementation Plan for the Belize Electricity Limited. Reference No. (as per Procurement Plan): ___BEL C­3_The objective of this assignment (the Services) is to assist the Belize Electricity Limited (BEL) to develop an effective vegetation study and
    management plan. This is to ensure that the utility is able to better manage vegetation growth near and under its utilitys lines, and prevent
    any physically damaging incident with minimal losses, in particular during storms. The plan has to be implemented in an environmentally and
    socially sustainable manner and be in full compliance with Belizes and the World Banks environmental and social policies and regulations.
    The specific objectives are: (i) to assess the limitations and capacities of BEL personnel and physical inventory, whether positive or
    negative, and propose mitigation measures which will effectively address the response time; (ii) identify different alternatives and their
    potential impacts and relevant mitigation measures; and (iii) to establish clear directives and methodologies for the effective implementation
    of the plan. The indicative implementation period for the Services is April 2017 March 2019.

The ENERGY RESILIENT FOR CLIMATE ADAPTATION PROJECT (ERCAP) will support the BEL in its vegetation management/maintenance surrounding its critical infrastructure to reduce the impacts of natural hazards and the anticipated impacts of climate variability through targeted rehabilitation and reconstruction activities. The investments financed by the ERCAP has been informed by an extensive project identification and prioritization process, one primary output of which would be a comprehensive climate resilience Vegetation Management Plan, with support from the World Bank. The objective of this assignment (the Services) is to assist the Belize Electricity Limited (BEL) to develop an effective vegetation study and management plan.
