Sandwell and West Birmingham Hospitals NHS Trust is one of the largest teaching trusts in the United Kingdom, serving a population of 500 000. The Clinical Biochemistry department serves: the trust, over 120 GP practices including a number of special primary care centres and outreach clinics. The department provides an extensive range of analysis including HbA1c, consolidated at the Sandwell Hospital site.
Companies are invited to respond to a tender for the supply of analysers and reagents for the laboratory HbA1c service. The analysers must be capable of performing all analyses currently measured, with sufficient capacity for our growing workload. They must have the ability to connect either directly or via existing third party middleware to the laboratory computer system for transmission of results.
The department has seen an annual HbA1c workload growth of ~15 % over the past 2 years. The 2016/17 workload was 220 500 samples and current test growth is 15 %/year.
