Tenderers are invited to an open tender contest for the delivery of the following consultancy services for the renovation of a new exhibition in Båthallen at the Norwegian Maritime Museum, which is a department of Stiftelsen Norsk Folkemusuem.
ARK, IARK — Architect and interior architect services.
The competition will be held in accordance with the Public Procurement Regulations dated 17/6 2016 part III (commencing 1/1 2017). The total engineering design fees are estimated to be above the EEA threshold (NOK 1.1 million).
A separate competition will be announced for technical consultants.
Båthallen was the Norwegian Shipping Museum's first exhibition building at Bygdøynes. It opened in 1958, with traditional boats from the entire coastline and exhibitions on Norwegian shipping in the sailing-ship era. The exhibitions have been upgraded over the years, but sufficient grants have not been available for maintenance and renovation of the building. The hall is not insulated, the floor has settlement damage, there are several places where the facade and roof leak and the technical installations are out-of-date. The hall was closed to the public in 2009 and the exhibition elements and a number of boats and cultural-historical objects were removed.
The project is mainly financed by grants from the Ministry of Culture and the project is dependent on this decision being maintained.
The total estimated engineering design fees are above the national threshold. The competition is being held in accordance with the regulations' part III and the terms in this competition notice.
The work includes:
A sketch project, preliminary project and detailed project shall be carried out, as well as the necessary follow-up in the construction period. The work includes the preparation of a tender description and assistance with contracting. Emphasis shall be put on inter-disciplinary design services with cooperation with technical consultants. Emphasis will be put on solutions for the building that ensure a long lifetime. The interior will be assessed in terms of flexibility for adapting to exhibitions.
There will be extensive cooperation with the exhibition project. This applies to both the architect and interior architect. The interior architect will work closely with the exhibition project in order to adapt the project to the exhibition.
The assignment includes the role of responsible applicant. Consideration must be given to the fact that the building is of listed interest and there will have to be cooperation with the Cultural Heritage Management Office.
Tenders are to be submitted as hourly rates excluding VAT, with an estimated number of hours for the assignment.
To be entered into the attached price form.
