The proposed development is located at 24-28 and 30 Fitzgibbon Street, Dublin 1. It will include refurbishment of the existing building and the construction of a new 2-storey extension (over basement). The existing building was built in 1912-13. This end of terrace seven-bay four-storey over exposed basement was in use as police barracks and station until around 2013.
The neighbouring building is a two-bay two-storey former house over basement, built c.1860. It recently received minor refurbishment and is currently in use as a Garda public office.
The total floor area of existing over 5 levels (incl. basement, to be retained and fully refurbished) =1 623 m². Existing two storey over basement building (to be retained and fully refurbished) = 199 m². New proposed extension = 782 m². Total area of development currently Option 1=2 604 m². Options 2 and 3 are being explored details of these in Definitive Project Brief. These may become the chosen option.

The proposed development is located at 24-28 and 30 Fitzgibbon Street, Dublin 1. The building will provide fit for purpose accommodation for Divisional Garda Station. The existing building was built in 1912-13. The building is not included in the Record of Protected Structures database of the Dublin City Development Plan 2016-2022. It is, however, referenced in NIAH, under Reg. No. 50011038.
