As an addition to the existing school, Rogaland fylkeskommune shall build a new teaching and personnel wing at Sola sixth form college in Sola kommune.
The school offers both vocational and university preparatory education. After the expansion, the school will cater to approx. 950 students and 120 employees.
The school site is located between Sola sports centre to the west and a hillside to the east. The current school building is a long north-south building, with parking on the north side and main entrance for students on the south side. With the sports centre on the one side and a wooded hillside on the other, the area around the school is open and airy.
The existing school building was completed in 1985 and is a great building that received the Houens Fund Diploma in 1991 for it’s architecture. It is important that the existing school building is respected in the pending expansion.
The new construction will be an extension of the current building, on what is currently an open grassy slope. The connection between the new and old buildings has been made small in order to preserve the current school building as much as possible. The transformer is currently located in the existing building. This will be moved to a new stand-alone transformer station on top of the preserved stone wall at the end of the office barracks. Moving the transformer is not part of this competition.
This competition concerns a turnkey contract for an addition totalling GFA 2 814 m² over two storeys plus a mechanical room on the roof, as well as outdoor works. The turnkey contract includes erection of a complete functional and user-ready building. The executing turnkey contractor will be responsible for ensuring that the contract includes all the necessary work for the planning, engineering design and execution.
The value of the procurement is anticipated to be approx. 55 000 000 NOK excluding VAT.
Progress.
The project is scheduled with engineering design starting as soon as possible after signing the contract. Engineering design and execution will be in the period 1.7.2018 up until the building is taken into use, 1.12.2019.
