Northville-based municipal services firm McKenna Associates is working with Northfield Township to issue the North Village Request for Proposals. North Village is an approximately 23-acre site on Whitmore Lake next to the Northfield Township Post Office. The development is intended to complement the surrounding neighborhoods and traditional character of Downtown Whitmore Lake, while also emphasizing lake views and natural features. The Township and its residents envision a dynamic site that will include a town green, public parking, and mixed-use buildings with restaurants, retail, and residential units.

“This is a unique and rare opportunity to develop such a large parcel with frontage on all-sports Whitmore Lake,” said Township Supervisor Marlene Chockley. “Our vision of mixed-use development promises to make this area a vibrant gathering place for residents and guests.”

Township Manager Steve Aynes will lead the effort in conjunction with Northfield Township’s Board of Trustees and the consultant, McKenna Associates. The McKenna team includes President John Jackson, AICP & LEED GA, and Director of Urban Design, Paul Lippens, AICP.

“Northfield Township is invested in creating an active and attractive Whitmore Lake waterfront,” said Mr. Lippens. “It’s exciting that the Board is moving forward with seeking partners to bring the community’s vision to life.”
