The University of Brighton is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced contractor to Design and Build an Academic Building and associated public realm located on the university's Moulsecoomb campus on Lewes Road in Brighton.
    Leistungsumfang
The University of Brighton wishes to procure the design and build of a new academic building which is to be located on the site of an existing surface car park located adjacent to existing academic buildings and also adjacent to a new proposed multi storey car park (to be constructed shortly before the academic building).
The proposed academic building will provide 7082 m2 of floor area (GIA) over 6 floors with plant and an atrium overrun at roof level for the fully glazed skylight. The form of the building is broadly in two parallel wings with a full height atrium separating them.
The scheme will be designed up to RIBA Stage 4 as described above.
It is the intention of the client and design team to allow experienced design and build contractors (with relevant experience associated with higher education buildings) to bring efficient and innovative construction methods and design details to the project.
The construction programme is envisaged as 2 stages, the construction of the Academic Building and the public realm and landscape works.
Further to the above on successful completion of the Academic Building the University may, at its discretion, award the contract for the public realm and landscape works to the successful bidder. The scope for which comprises the construction of both hard and soft landscape works including:
    — paving for pedestrian and vehicular areas,
    — steps and ramps,
    — walls associated with raised planters,
    — bespoke and ‘off the shelf’ street furniture,
    — a raised timber walkway for pedestrians and cyclists,
    — tree and shrub planting and associated topsoil importation.
