Tianjin Culture Park – Excerpt from the explanation text

It is our aim to create an internationally renowned city park with a real local flavour which will attract tourists worldwide. Besides creating an aesthetically pleasing design, it is a high, but attainable goal to establish education about urban ecology.
We want to get this project to the high level of world class design, environmental responsibility, social integrity, and application of state-of-the-art urban ecology.
Our team within the planning network of ‘Rheinschiene’ (since 2012: ‘RhineScheme’) provides a perfect match of European rooted urban planning and landscape architecture that has been proved in Chinese pilot projects.

At a finer scale, the design is focusing on the human experiences and enjoyment of the city, the open space and the waterscapes of the new Cultural Park. Creating a better place for people to enjoy and providing public space for activities and recreation was a fundamental motivation.
Our vision is to develop an innovative, sustainable park of the 21st century that celebrates the natural beauty of an urban ecosystem built on local landscape and natural assets.
The Central Lake represents a partnership between nature and human kind, aesthetics and utility, between form and function, lending itself to a magical and animated interpretation.

We believe that years from now - when citizens experience the Culture Park with its promenades, activity areas and beautiful gardens - they will understand something grand about the place and the history and importance of Tianjin.
The new park will serve as a premier regional tourist destination, new urban catalyst, as dynamic gathering place, diverse cultural meeting spot for the city and the region, as distinguished educational resource, vibrant recreation hub, as well as a symbol of Tianjin’s role as a creative city in the new millennium.
The creation of Tianjin Culture Park will reflect broad vision and design excellence as well as implement the best practices and lessons learned from the best parks in the world.
