D+W won this international competition in Gothenborg, Sweden. Other competitors in the final round were Zaha Hadid, Snöhetta, Beam and Wilkinson Eyre.
"Hisingbron", with a budget of 1 billion SEK, spans across the central part of Scandinavia's most important commercial port. The bridge is about 350 m long and has a spectacular midsection, which is supported by four distinctive towers and can be raised 30 meters above the water level. The bridge will be an icon for the port and an important part of the future urban development of Gothenburg.
D + W has been responsible for the winning proposal in collaboration with the engineering companies ELU, Sweden, Leonhardt, Andrä und Partner, Germany, and LjusArkitektur, Sweden.
The bridge should be completed in 2021

Arpeggio skapar en berättelse om mötet över älven med ett förslag som är särpräglat och vackert i en skulptural helhet där pylonerna samspelar och knyter samman. De fyra pylonerna i lyftbron bildar en port mellan Göta Älv och Västerhavet samt bjuder in varandra till ett samtal över vattnet.
