The idea:
What if ...we move the river?
Changing trade demands, alongside years of damage and neglect have seen the demise
of the once industrious Royal Docks into an ill-used and often overlooked location in the Central London. While the larger district has witnessed pockets of investment, large swathes of land remain undeveloped and isolated, denying local residents the social and economic infrastructure which would make the area an attractive place to live
and work. This proposal offers a reimagining of the Docklands, redirecting the River Thames by combining Royal Albert Dock, King George V Dock and Royal Victoria Dock to form a new river course – as well as unlocking land to form a New River Thames Park. London City Airport, Port Infrastructure and Exhibition & Conference would be
relocated (as a small aerotropolis) and a fabulous new River Thames Park would provide a continuous green link from the O2 Arena to Gallons Hill. This proposal asks, ‘What if…?
What if? ...we move the river!

What if? ...we move the river!
