Beurteilung durch das Preisgericht

This Contest Design did not win any of the winning places, because the author in the design took into account the basement as a functional space, what was not allowed according to the rules of the Contest. However, for other reasons, this Contest Design deserves a special award.

The main value of this design lies in its innovative and symbolic integration of Tesla's heritage within the design of the Museum. The focal point of the composition is transformation of the Mill’s chimney into a symbolic lighthouse, which represents the enlightenment that science has brought, and at the same time Tesla's heritage. This architectural gesture gives a strong identity to the Museum, where structure and its surroundings become a story of Tesla's ideas and achievements.

Through understanding of architectural heritage, but also through innovative spatial components, this Contest Design creates the opportunity to create not only space for exhibitions, but also for deep spiritual experience of visitors. The designed organization of the space connects all functional zones, while the most important element is the central part, the inner courtyard with a glass roof that becomes an open entrance area, connecting the past of the Mill with the current identity of the Museum. This space also becomes a place for events, meetings, and for all persons wishing to enter the world of Nikola Tesla through art, exhibitions, and innovations.

This Contest Design stands out because it not only relies on functionality, but evokes emotional and intellectual response of visitors, allowing them to connect with Tesla at a deeper level. In addition to the Museum setting, the spaces for workshops and prototypes allow the ideas of the great inventor to be continued and explored, making the Museum space a vibrant, dynamic place for learning and innovations.
