New Vilnius Congress Centre (LT)

The new Congress Centre opens itself both to international guests and to the citizens of Vilnius. Conceived as a welcoming and accessible public building, it strengthens the city’s role as a place of exchange, culture, and dialogue. Its distinctive architectural form gives the Congress Centre a strong identity and a high degree of recognizability within the urban landscape. At the same time, the new building integrates carefully into its surroundings and pays respectful tribute to the nearby Parliament building. A publicly accessible roofscape creates generous spaces for relaxation and gathering, offering spectacular views over the surrounding city and the natural landscape along the Neris River. The surrounding open spaces are enhanced and carefully redesigned, strengthening the connection between the urban fabric and the riverfront. In this way, the project not only establishes a new cultural landmark, but also contributes to a vibrant and accessible public realm along the Neris.
The organizational concept follows a clear main scheme: open foyer areas with river views to the front, meeting rooms and auxiliary spaces along the sides, and logistical and private spaces located at the back. The direct arrangement of the halls provides structural and logistical advantages while maximizing flexibility, allowing the spaces to be combined or divided to host events of different sizes. All halls feature a clear and simple geometry, enabling a wide range of events and accommodating the maximum seating capacity. The restaurant is located on the upper level of the Congress Centre. This exceptional location provides an additional incentive for both residents and visitors to enjoy the newly opened panoramic views of the city in multiple directions.
The new Vilnius Congress Centre becomes a striking example of contemporary architecture, inviting visitors and citizens to engage with and explore it. The proposal rethinks the relationship between a public building and its surrounding space, creating a new symbol for a modern, green, and open European capital.
