Vilnius Railway Station Complex (LT)

An ambition of this project is to create not only a comfortable transportation hub, but also a new place to be in Vilnius.

The space in front of the existing Railway Station is the focal point of this part of the city. Large number of passengers is moving here between bus stops and train station, which creates a great opportunity to make it a place to meet.

With this project we propose a semi-circular shape of the square forming a unique gateway to the old town of Vilnius and providing a pleasant setting for experiencing the city.

The proposed urban tissue creates a clearly-defined place to visit or to wait for a train/bus in a vibrant, lively environment.

New facades along Stoties street form a continuation of existing paths, emphasizing the main route to the Old Town. The whole urban concept respects the historical layout and creates new connections between districts of Vilnius.

The main goal of this project is to find the most convenient and quickest connections between all modes of transport and the city. This can be achieved by using the existing slopes of the terrain to eliminate stairs on passenger main routes, which would make the use of public transport comfortable for all.
