The winning project proposes the Michigan Central Station as a vertical city.
Occupying an area of more than 40,000 m2, the old building is emptied and
organized by different program areas within the macrostructure.
The façade remains intact and no effort is devoted to repair and recondition
the structure. The building is meant as a modern ruin and generates semi-open
walking areas and vegetation squares in height. The required program is placed in
containers that foreshadow a rapid, low cost and a energy saver intervention.
