Erläuterungstext
Eteläpuisto City Shore creates an environmentally responsive neighbourhood and an active public lakefront that strengthens Tampere’s lakeside identity. Eteläpuisto City Shore increases the recreational qualities of the shore of Lake Pyhäjärvi, extends Tampere’s riverwalk into the site, and brings in the natural beauty of the Pyynikki ridge to define Eteläpuisto Park’s new landscape structure. The reconnected public space network structures 90,000 square meters of development within a patchwork landscape that takes its queues from 4 existing landscape typologies. The responsive patchwork landscape creates a flexible, binding design concept that strengthens the 4 identified landscape types while allowing new activities to be integrated within Eteläpuisto Park. To complement the landscape, the proposed urban development is composed of a mix of tested architectural typologies that range from row houses for family living to mixed-use perimeter blocks to residential point houses that allow the powerful natural landscape to wonder into the neighbourhood. Collectively, the plan creates a diverse sequence of experiences that includes urban cafes, beautiful natural vistas, and pockets of recreational activities for both the future neighbourhood and city of Tampere.
