    VIA is a Metropolitan Transit Authority created according to Chapter 451, Texas Transportation Code (―VIA‖) to provide public transportation services for the citizens of Bexar County. The system’s legal name is VIA Metropolitan Transit (VIA). VIA is a Political Subdivision of the State of Texas and governed by a Board of Trustees who are appointed by its County and Municipal Governments. VIA provides fixed route transit service, paratransit service for mobility-impaired customers, special event and park and ride service. In total, VIA’s service area is approximately 1,200 square miles.
