Measurements like appropriation of the space

The measurement is the first relation that man establishes between his own body and the space. Measuring already means projecting. The action itself represents a hypothesis of expansion of the boundaries of the space, in one direction or another. In my idea, "Measurements like appropriation of the space", the benches are not just objects that comply a function, they reveal something of the space, a concrete aspect of the place in which they are located.
The measure is not only treated as a functional tool in the project, it is form and content at the same time. The space is represented in its essence, as a measurement. The benches become a sign, that build a geography of the landscape.
A bench is a place of "being", the place where man observes the reality, standing firm, one becomes conscious about it. Because of that, the interaction with the local community is essential in my project, trying to find symbolic measures, evocative stories, routes, distances, measures that are part of the memory and daily life of the village, will shape the final appearance of the bench.

Beurteilung durch das Preisgericht
‐ Die Idee des Entwurfs wird von der Jury besonders positiv gewertet. Der Entwurf geht
weit über die eigentliche Funktion einer Bank hinaus.
‐ Die indexikalische Funktion regt zur Kommunikation über die Richtung der Pfeilspitze
an, zur Auseinandersetzung mit dem Raum und dem eigenen Wissen.
‐ Es ist denkbar den Entwurf auf die Pfeile ohne Maßangabe zu reduzieren, die Richtung
des Pfeils/ der Pfeile könnte sich unter verschiedenen Aspekten in Abständen ändern.
‐ Als Reflexionsobjekt könnte der Pfeil zwar beweglich aber unverrückbar aufgestellt
werden und die Aufmerksamkeit des Betrachters lenken.
‐ Es ist ein Set von verschiedenen Pfeilen in unterschiedlichen Größen vorstellbar.
‐ Bemängelt wird, dass der Entwurf keine Aussage über die Materialverwendung trifft,
auch die Umsetzung der Sitzelemente in Zahlenform wird unter den vorgegebenen
Wettbewerbskriterien als problematisch gesehen.
