Worlds of El Lissitzky

Proun is an artistic concept elaborated by El Lissitzky combining painting and sculpture. El Lissitzky breaks the boundaries between the two disciplines and brings the viewer into the artistic scene. With the proun room project he translates his geometric and symbolic approach into a room-size environment.

The project for a symbolic structure to be located in Nikitin Square in Novosibirsk moves from this research and pushes the proun room towards a proun tectonic concept. The proun room walls are unfolded to open the architectural box to the context.

The proun objects on the walls are conceptually flattened and then rotated to generate geometric openings on the walls. These rotated planes become the supports of the new tectonic structure.
