Development of an architectural concept of the Atomic Energy Pavilion at VDNH (Exhibition of Achievements of National Economy)

The building consist of three parts which are united by the center sphere. This solution allows to create a dynamic architectural image stressing the core idea of the atomic energy. The building is surrounded by water. Water is an important element in the atomic energy thus it is symbolic in the composition of the pavilion. The Pavilion is as if floating and reflecting in the water.
According to authors’ plans, the concept of the pavilion is based on a kind of the “Clash between science and mysticism”. A sphere is combined with the tranquil surface of water, balanced with rectangular volumes of side wings. In its composition, the interior of the sphere is a symbol of an atom, with a shining ball in the centre as a nucleus of the atom, its shells presenting orbits
of electrons. One of the important traces of the pavilion is its interacting with the surround area via color and décor coding. The glass and the white perforated planes unite the Pavilion with other buildings in the Industry square.
