Erläuterungstext

The former Carlsberg brewery complex is situated next to Copenhagen’s city center. In 2008 Carlsberg moved its beer production to a location in Jutland, except for Jacobsen House Brewery, where special beers are brewed. The thirty-hectare area left behind is being redeveloped into Carlsberg City. While preserving the historical buildings, the new district will provide thousands of houses, shops, cultural facilities, sports facilities, offices and another project NORD were a part of, the educational campus of UCC, as well as a new railway station.
Centrally located in Carlsberg City District, amongst several landmark buildings of high architectural quality, lies the European School Copenhagen. A modern public school that refers to its surroundings in a architectural sense. Placed on the corner of Ny Carlsbergvej and Pasteursvej – in close proximity to the historic Carlsberg Elephant Gate and several other landmarks.
European School Copenhagen, a part of the internationally known Sankt Annæ Gymnasium, will be an internationally accredited, public school in Copenhagen with facilities consisting of several leisure areas, a sports hall and areas for outdoor activity. The European School Copenhagen will have a strong international profile, with focus being put on developing the language skills, science and music, while creating a good framework for friendships and networks across local and international families.
The European School will have seven floors, including two underground levels, with a total area of 14,000 sq m. The building is divided into a primary and secondary education and will accommodate 1,100 students. It will include teaching and practice rooms, an auditorium, a sports hall and other facilities. The two-floor basement has 270 parking spaces and extends below an adjacent parcel, where another building will be developed. NORD Architects, together with the team, expects to hand over the project to the City of Copenhagen in 2018. The project has a contract value of over € 40 million.
