L’AND HOTEL
Integrated in the L’And Vineyards resort, a concept that results of the synergies yielding from the family-based winemaking and agro-business company Sousa Cunhal, the Hotel is the key building of the whole ensemble.
It has the reception, clubhouse, restaurant, Spa with indoor pool, and the back-ofhouse service support to the adjacent townhouse suites.

In addition, the building functions as a winery, where guests can experience the whole winemaking process, from grapes selection, crushing, fermentation and pressing, to barrel aging, blending, filtering and bottling.

Inspired on the whitewashed walled patios of the Alentejo, the building was conceived
as an hinged prism from which its four corners where cut-off (reception, chill-out, restaurant terrace and industrial), creating areas of shade and intimacy.

Topographically, the volume has been carefully positioned to meet the contours of the ground with the least change.

The large window of the indoor pool at the lower level, suggests itself as a wall folded to release the views of the landscape.

L’AND TOWNHOUSES
The townhouses are serviced units of the hotel at the L’And Vineyards, –a resort that was also master-planned by PROMONTORIO. Located around the lake, forming a kind of amphitheatre adjacent to the L’And hotel, they are broken down in 7 rows, in a total of 31 contiguous plots.. To cope with the topography, minimize their visual impact and maximize the lake views, the 2-storey townhouses are half-buried in two terraces following the natural contours of the land.

With this setting, it was possible to create a discreet intermediate level for parking between terraces from which the entry is made by descending into a sunken patio. The 1- and 2-bedroom typologies have only one floor and are partially buried, given that all units were organized in such a way as to allow natural light to flow from the interior patios into every room of the house.

In plan, these units are centralized around the living room, which opens onto the main patio and to the lake views. All patios have a beam structure that simultaneously generates a protective shade from the south sun and offers the opportunity to plant a vine gazebo creating a comfort zone on the outdoor garden, evocative of the surrounding landscape.
