"An incredibly tough category with just one vote separating first from second place. Ace has created a new destination with its conversion of a staid and unremarkable chain hotel. EPR Architects and Universal Design Studio have collaborated to bring the spirit of Shoreditch right into the hotel with clever interventions. The judges felt the building had been completely transformed on a relatively tight budget, creating a great legacy for its creator Alex Calderwood and a new hotel London should be proud of."
