We envisage the Brno New Main Train Station as more than just a place to catch a train:
It will be a net plus, green energy producing, urban, mobility hub. It will be a connection of old and new BRNO, an urban hinge that links the view corridor from Petrov with the Svratka River.
The shape of the roof is formed for efficiency and to optimize the sun exposure for solar energy in translucent materiality, floating over the platform and opens up towards the view corridor towards Petrov. The roof will be a signature object for BRNO, creating attractive public spaces as well as generating sustainable energy to power the station itself as well as the surrounding buildings, which means in turn that there are no running electricity costs.
