The dwelling under the roof is thought as a connected and universal space. This space is differentiated with massive cores, like sanitary plumbings or the kitchen. A flowing space without separations is born. Furniture is adapted to the life situation of the users and becomes naturally part of the space. Apart from the width of the “under-roof-space” the character is formed by shape of the roof surface. These surfaces are dissolved and form a Mosaic of FAKRO roof windows.
A homogeneous skin with openings will be filled with FAKRO windows. The differentiated design of the surface is created by the different characteristics of the mosaic fields. Beside common glass fillings, colored foils or colored glasses are conceivable. Also sun protection lamellas in the window frames, solar heat collectors or photovoltaic surfaces in place of the usual glass fillings let a varied image create. The arrangement of different qualities of surfaces in a homogeneous grid leads to a new handling with loft-architecture, whose crucial element is the roof surfaces and the roof windows which are built into it.
