Downtown Q 2025

With simple, strong and deliverable intervention this proposal will transform Civic Q from a back street car park into a vital and progressive cultural quarter. The proposal draws from the existing grid pattern and inserts a vehicular shared zone to create a forecourt to the Q theatre and a primary public square. In one simple ‘gritty’ gesture, the block is re-orientated, reconnected to Mainstreet and Crawford Street and released for peripheral development. This is a transformative urban framework idea that deserves to be implemented.
