The International Yachting Center


The proposal for a new international yachting center functions as a gathering point for athletes of sailing, the city's leisure sailors and other yachting enthusiasts. Our proposal intertwine Aarhus’ promenade of activities, the meandering boardwalk and the promenade with the yachting center's halls, workshops and spaces. An intertwining that can be seen when you move up the passable roof of the building

This roof is one of the main ideas of the proposal. From here, it is possible for city’s citizens to follow the sport of sailing at close range when the practitioners are training or racing. The roof combines the views - from here you have one of the most interesting prospects of Aarhus Bay.

The roof extends the promenade of activities in a large staircase, which leads the audience to a platform from where you can watch the race. From the stairs you are also overlooking the slipway where most activities on land are located. Furthermore the visitors have the opportunity to look into the great halls and follow the life and the activities.
