The World Village of Women Sports

The design has been christened “The Wave” as it is characterised by a wave-shaped body of buildings that form a contrast to the indoor arena. With the organic idiom of buildings of varying heights, the architects seek to tone down the large-scaleness of the project. Pedestrians and cyclists should be able to move freely through the area. In between the buildings is a protected open square for meetings and café life. The design has facades in light-toned rendering or concrete, steel and glass with elements of foliage and stonecrop roof covering. The football hall is partly under ground level. The design also includes a large number of apartments.
