The World Village of Women Sports

Brodtkorb puts the focus on people rather than buildings and with their design are seeking to mediate a feeling of belonging and continuity. Other key words are movement and dynamics added to an architecture that is “transparent”. The WVOWS is interwoven in the surrounding environs through, among other things, the arena and running track being under ground level. The movement and dynamics are underscored by a diagonal passage through the area and an open meeting place. Large areas of vegetation and water are also planned. The architects are looking to create the feeling of a modern amphitheatre.
